The Exhibition – A grand final to the 9 months of creative fun with the children. It was an intense week of a lot of hard work, and a lot of fun. Months of planning leading to this week, and what a success it was!!!
We wanted to show the children what great work they have done, show how super proud we were of them all and how proud they should be of themselves for their achievements and developments. So, we brought everything to them.
We organised spaces in each of the sectors of where they live so that all the children, family and/or local community could attend. We had almost all of the children and many many more come and see their creations and receive their certificates.
In Isla Trinitaria we had 77 children turn up!! We did some improvising and divided the group into three, one looking around and explaining the exhibition to others, one group doing some painting of bandanas and the other group playing games, and we swapped them around every 10 minutes, this worked really well. There was such a buzz of excitement from all the kids with all the activities.
In Balerio Estacio we had the exhibition in a school and literally hundreds of children, some teachers and children’s families, all came to have a look at what we were doing. The children in all of the sectors were so proud, without us even prompting them to explain what they done, they were there, willing and excited to tell people how they made the things and show which artwork was theirs.
To finish off the last couple of weeks, we had the last week of art club, giving back materials, Olivia saying her goodbyes and playing lots of fun parachute games. Following that, for the last week, we organised an excursion with the kids to ´parque historico´, (history park) were they saw lots of animals, some shows and had fun running around.
I’d like to say a huge thank you to Olivia for being such a great partner in club de arte, she gave all of her hard work, but most of all, she gave all of her heart to the children and will be hugely missed.
Please take a look at our photos of the last few weeks……
