Run by Kate Parson as part of her placement in Mexico in 2009. Pop Art Portraits were created by teenagers from Casa Juconi.
By simplifying and removing detail all people look equal; it also highlights that everyone (or everyone’s portrait is interesting and individual even though the detail is missing): You can’t tell from the portraits whether someone is old, young, rich, poor, strong, weak, arrogant, shy – you (the viewer) ‘fill in the blanks’ and imagine what the person is like. Also the simplified portraits mean the boys can get good results that they’re proud of.
